Plenty of sheneanigans and a touch of birdflash thrown in for more sheneanigans and my own amusment (and Barry's anguish).

Tim is the avatar, found by Dick and Babs in the iceberg.

Jason is the adoptive oldest grandson of Firelord Ra’s and Damian is his youngest brother. Damian has two attendants/friends, Cass and Stephanie.

When Bruce was young his parents took him on a diplomatic trip to the southern water tribe. They were caught in a fire nation raid and killed. So when he returned to the northern water tribe he grew up in the shadow of their loss. When he was old enough, he went out looking to train in combat, and what better place than in the fire nation? The land of his enemies?

There he met Alfred, a soldier with a notable military history, who offered to teach him how to fight benders, as a non-bender himself. They mutually adopt each other in a stilted sort of way.

Both receive invitations to a circus performance and witness a terrible thing that results in Bruce adopting Dick, another non-bender from the earth kingdom.

The little rag-tag group continue their training and before long start to notice someone watching their sessions.

A small little fire bender is eventually caught trying to steal from their training weapons. This is how they come to meet Jason.

During on of their training sessions, Bruce is noticed by the princess of the fire nation, Talia al-Ghul. They have a brief dalliance until it is discovered Bruce is water tribe and he tries to escape with Dick and Jason.

In the escape, Jason is stolen and presumed dead.

In fact, Alfred and Talia save the boy and Alfred is appointed his attendant. Shortly after, Talia gives birth to Damian.

Damian grows up around other fire nation children, often spending time with Cassandra and Stephanie, whose parents are prominent fire nation generals.

Jason is eventually banished by Ra’s for speaking out against a plan during a meeting that results in his Agni Kai.

Meanwhile, Bruce and Dick had returned to the northern water tribe to make a case for sending aid to the southern water tribe. When their pleas fall on deaf ears, they travel south themselves to see the leader of the southern water tribe, Jim Gordon.

While staying with the southern water tribe, Dick and Babs basically become siblings. Especially after their fathers join forces to launch an assault against the fire nation.

While waiting for their return, they go fishing and discover Tim in an iceberg.

The three form a plan to get Tim teachers in all of the bending forms and discover that Jason has been sent after the avatar.

Thus begins the cat and mouse story of the three siblings running around the globe in search of teachers. As well as the chase that is carried out by Jason and Damian in trying to find the avatar.

Side note: I can’t figure out who should be Toph. Although Yue or Suki could be Kori (or Wally if you like birdflash). I want to stick to most of the characters having platonic/sibling relationships instead of trying to layer in romantic ones from both narratives. Also, Jason and Dick’s ages would have to be fudged to make this coherent. You could also make Clark the leader of the northern water tribe and have Kon be Yue if you shift the romance plot to Tim.

Thoughts:

“the warmth’s returning” is a series of short fics set in my own version of a Talon AU, which all should be enjoyable on their own as oneshots but are part of a larger whole.

I started reading this series through it's fifth installment "like a wave upon a rock" and HOO BOY DID I PICK A PLACE TO START!

I really like how this series handles Dick's past as a Talon, really showing him healing and slowly opening up not only through Dick's P.O.V but also through Bruce's!

The first fic in this series "you were destined to be sent here by the moon" (also, amazing tittles as well!) shows Bruce really being out of his depth, not really saying the right things but trying his best, loving this small child he picked up because he couldn't just leave him there! Bruce always going "you're safe here", and apologizing when he realized he over looked something or messed up. Him going "how can I make you feel better" just UGG THE COMMUNICATION!

There's so many small scenes in the first installment of Bruce learning about Dick, about the small boy hidden inside, through observing is great! He doesn't push him into doing things, he looks towards Dickies reactions about how he feels because he's unable to communicate properly. His face may be stoic to others, but Bruce learns to read him like a book, learns how his eyes shine at animals and fluffy blankets, learns how he likes to feel warm and to be held. It's so cute and makes my heart clench <3

The BirdFlash stuff come in a bit later (also amazing) but if you just want from awesome BatFam stuff there is an abundance of that too!

you know sometimes i think about this fic i read once where the author was like birdflash but also Linda is still there and it’s poly and ngl i respect the hell out of that, i think birdflash would be top tier if Linda was always included

Do you think if the Flash went to another timeline, he would want to visit a nexus being just to feel some sort of familiarity of his universe?

oh god yea that would be,,,,heartbreakingly real babe.

i'm not entirely sure about barry, because as much as yja fandom loves to talk about dick growing up at barry and iris' house and calling barry "uncle barry" and stuff, as far as i've read canonically (which again may be wrong i'm in no way a comics encyclopedia) dick has a healthy respect, appreciation, and fondness for the hero who treats wally as an equal. not much beyond that though. so barry may seek out a nexus being if he was particularly close to one, but in marvel lore, there's only supposed to be one nexus being per universe, and this little au we have going on has dick grayson as the nexus being.

wally though? oh god yes. i can see wally as the flash, right after barry died, still on the titans and still on shaky footing in this new mantle, trapped in an alternate universe for the first time and being terrified. everyone he knows took two steps backward and shifted slightly to the left, enough so that he recognizes them but doesn't know them. he's lost, he's sinking, he's drowning.

i'm not sure how he stumbles across dick. maybe he's searching for the titans, and finds nightwing at the tower first. maybe he's drawn to nexus beings in particular. maybe the speedforce wanted to guide one of their few chosen heroes to someone that they knew would help wally get back home. whatever happens, wally finds dick, and practically melts in relief.

because dick's the same, he's the exact fucking same. sure, the scar on his jaw is missing and there's a new, angry looking one streaking down his bicep. sure, he doesn't fiddle with his thumbs anymore and scrapes his teeth against each other instead. sure, he doesn't remember some of the things wally tells him and asks about events that wally knows never happened.

but his hugs are the same and his easy smile is the same and it feels like his goddamn soul is the same, and in a world where it feels like wally's a ghost walking straight through people he swore he used to know, dick is a breath of fresh air and wally is venus, desperately floundering her way to the sea's surface.

(it's a little difficult to leave that universe once he finds out how to go back to his own, because he'd grown oddly attached to the dick in this world in a way that he wasn't with the dick in his world. but he shrugs it off, gives dick a smirk and a pun, and runs as fast as he can to sink into the warm familiarity of his own home again.)
